Re: Questions For The Paint GURU?

Paint Guru,, excellent job.....

Just 2 quick question for the master....

Can you put paint in the texture compound(orange peel..knockdown) before you shoot it to achive a more even colour to the primer you have previously applied?????

2. I went to sw the other day and one of the reps there assured me that if i had a airless sprayer i could spray Latex yes latex...over non painted texture without damaging the integraty of the texture....This is the first time i heard of that...normally oil base only to non painted texture...I have a Graco Mark IV currently.... Any help would be appreciated.

I also love to look at the tech sheets of the paint to see what's in it and too see when paint companies change the contents of a paint and no tell us or to do to raise or lower the price of a product.

Sandman ... Yes and yes. I've done both. It turned out pretty good. I don't know if the manufacturers recomend it, but it turned out fine with my work.

Hey Paint Guru - dah Bears weren't in the Superbowl that year. Those big helmets I painted were for the half-time show of SuperBowl ***II, in which the mighty Denver Broncos defeated the Packers. ELWAY RULES!! (Yes, still.)

Guru,

Any Tips on Spraying Oil Primer on Exterior Surfaces? I'll be using a titan 440i. The product will be SW A100 Exterior Oil. Do I have to thin it? Or can i shoot directly out of the bucket?

Guru,

I'm planning a trip to Vegas this Summer. Should I stay downtown or on the strip?

Plaza,

I'de thin it a little, and use fine mesh filters. Watch out for over spray. Spraying outside is risky!

Re: Questions For The Paint GURU?

Steve,

I go 2-3 times a year and have stayed at a dozen places. I Love The Orleans. They have low limit tables, and on expedia you can get some great deals. Sign up for the members club! They have a bowling alley, movies, and a strip club across the street.

Did you say SUMMER??? I'de hit the mountains till at least late Sept. It's HOT! Don't leave your credit cards in the car ... they melt!

Re: Questions For The Paint GURU?

But Guru..

The Orleans is neither on the strip OR downtown.

and I'm going for my birthday, which happens to be in July.

Tell me this...

After 25 years of marriage, will it still be worth the extra $$ for a hot-tub suite..or will my wife be spending all of her time at the slot machines anyhow?

Re: Questions For The Paint GURU?

If you want to do a hot tub thing ... bring her to the mountains.

But if you are going to Vegas ... it doesn't mater where you stay ... You'll always get lucky if you treat your lady right.

Give her her space every once in a while with the one armed bandit (you need a little room after all those years), but show her the sights! Spend your days going to:

Madam Truseu's Wax Museum (She will like Mel Gibson, but check out Madona!),
The Hover Dam,
Mount Charleston ... nice place for lunch up there,
rent some clubs and do the awesome par-3 ANGEL PARK,
do the gondola ride at belagio's (or at least check out the human statue chick ... she freeks me out!),
There are roller coaster rides,
Mandolay Bay has a cool aquarium,
Green Valley Ranch (in Henderson) has the best buffet!

Save your hot tub money, and spend some time having fun with her ... the big payoff is at the end of the day!

You will have a great time, and get lucky in Vegas if you do more than gamble and hang in a hot tub.

Also ... check out the faux finishes out there ... I LOVE the ceiling at the PARIS!

Maybe marry her again ... it's cheap out there!

But Watch Out For OJ! He's on the loose!

The tip size depends on the job, and the product you want to thin it with depends on the product you are using. There are othe variables to consider. Temperature, wind (when outside), etc. The main thing to remember is "Viscosity". H2O moves through the pump quick because it is a thin liquid. Latex paint flows a little slower. But the oil based paint is much thicker, and will flow much slower. A little thinner will help the paint move at a better rate.

I'm not the Guru, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Last night...........

I don't normally thin any products I use.

However, in your case I would recommend reading the product data sheet for the manufacturers recommendations.

You might consider adding NAPHTHA to your "Oil-based products if you so desire. That will help speed up the drying time.

Now let's get some paint on the wall.

That was pretty good, Tom!

On a side note..if this is Plaza's drop channel cedar job, he'd best be back-brushing that primer too.
