Questions On Interior Designers

I will try to make this as short as possible... Who would you make the contract out to? Home owner, or I/D... Would you bid 10 to 15% higher due to all the extra hassel & is it worth it?? I have been told good & bad things about I/D. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Who hired you? Who's name is on the checks that will be written to you? That's who you are working for.

Re: Questions On Interior Designers

I have worked with a lot of desighners, I usually get my money from the client, and give the desighner 5percent off the top.

THe one time i let the desighner pay me, I got screwed out of 3,500.

Desighners are a very good source of buisness imo

Re: Questions On Interior Designers

This works both ways. Sometimes the HO hires the ID and the ID calls me, in that case I'm working for the ID.

More often, I ask the HO if the would prefer the advice of an ID (I'm a contractor, not Martha Stewart), in this case the ID is working for me.

I'm a big advocate of ID's if you are in a high-end enviroment. They can add much percieved value to your work.

Re: Questions On Interior Designers

We do work for couple of designers.
Great source of work and colour schedules off our hands.
I find them easier to work with than most General Contractors,
especially on the money issue.
