Question For All You Pro's

Hi all

I am a home inspection / electrical contractor, however I need a bit of assistance with a painting project I will be doing. I appologize as I guess this is a bit of a DIY question.

I am going to be using an airless sprayer for this, but I dont have much experiance with one. I have a question on mixing the paint to be used in an airless sprayer. I am going to to be using an exterior acrylic flat latex. Should I mix with water to thin it out when using the sprayer? and if so how much? Any info would help.

Thanks
Brian

Re: Question For All You Pro's

There should be no need to thin it at all.

Yeah, don't thin the paint. An acrylic should be no problem, even for a cheap spray rig. Strain the paint before you spray! When spraying outside, keep the paint rig in the shade, and cover the bucket with a soaking wet rag to keep from getting trash in the paint.

When spraying, buy a bag type strainer, and keep it in the bucket as you spray. Run the pickup down the side of the bucket outside the strainer. Also, if you think it needs thinning for whatever reason, just add a little Floetrol.

I find that thinning the paint a little helps alot. Keeps the paint from "tailing"
