Question About SW Paint Choices

I've used the Promar 200 for awhile now and always use 2 coats-been very happy with the cost and the finished product is just fine.

Prospect looking to have some rooms finished and has Cashmere paint on hand. For a really nice application in a kitchen environment/high traffic hall area, what would the 'best' product for durability/cleaning be?

second question-the 'Bath Paint'-says it's scrubbable so stains come off-lists it as appropriate for kitchen areas-is it a preferred choice for kitchen areas b/c of the cleanability?

best trim paint-most of my remodeling jobs I've stayed w/ the P200...what's the best white trim paint for holding up to abrasions and cleaning? I once tried the Proclassic XP Alkyd, but had very poor results with the drying time taking 3 days (cool temperatures was a big factor).

last question-HO claims the previous 15yr old paint job was an oil based paint and they have already painted some of the trim w/ white (Cashmere I think) and it's peeling. Poor surface pref for sure-so I'll have to scrub the new paint off. What is the recommended procedure for going over an oil based w/ latex? Will a cleaning and coat of Preprite do the trick?

The pro mar series is great for walls. I haven't used any of their bath specific paints.

As for the oil. If the surface is shiny the paint won't stick. You need to degloss it. Primer never hurts either.

My favorite trim paint from sw is southwest builders enamel. It's water based. Still need to have a warm room though. Space heaters are your friend.

I don't like cashmere for high traffic or highly washed walls, it burnishes to easy for that. Duration home better suited (not a dark color though).

Cashmere is a better product then 200 easy. The only thing better from SW is Duration.

I wouldnt use the bath paint. Just go with a good product and youll be alright. Go with satin if worried and tell the HO to use there fan.

The proclassic oil is good and shoudnt take 3 days to dry. You also dont need to prime to go over oil as many latex paints will go straight over it. Proclassic latex will and Duration Ext and Int will as well. I know Im going to be shot at for saying that but its the truth. If you have a Porter store nearby then advantage 900 (i think thats the right name)will go over oil and they will stand behind it. The SW products listed above may or may not get the green light from the manager at your local store. I have heard it both ways several times depending on who I talk to, but they do work.

If you are going SW go duration. Stuff dries like a rock.. VERY durable.

Best trim paint- BM Dulamel
Promar 200 is okay for the price!
Cashmere is a good product; just a little pricey!
Duron makes a latex that will go straight over oil or stain- Duron Signature Select
It will need to be sanded first of course!!
