the colossus suck IMO. I had been using a lambskin, but I just discovered the Wooster Polar Bear. Woosters version of the colossus. This baby is the cats meow. Rolls super fast, cleans super fast, and releases paint very evenly allowing me to cover at least twice as much ground as with a white dove, probably 3 to 4 times as much depending on how well I am dropped and load that baby up. I love it.

Ya, no difference washed out.

On a pass/fail grade it passes.

On a 5 star rating I give it a 5 for cleaning and a 3.5 rating for performance.

I picked up a 3/4 Collosus the other day. I have been with ICI for years but am slowly switching all of my paint to SW, so up untill now I just used maily Wooster covers.
I had a guy give me a 9 inch cover made by Whizz, it is almost identical to the Collosus, it was my favorite roller, but I didnt know where he had got the thing. The only problem I have really had with each roller was that they tend to shed the first few times you use them, even if you wash them first. But after a couple of washings they are great, it seems like you get alot more controll with them and can lay the paint on as heavy or as light as you want.
I think I paid 8 bucks for the thing, not really sure, I never look at the price of covers, I just grab a few when I need them, it's not like it is a product I can do without.

I have been experimenting with the Colussus line.

I love the 3/4. I will use it exclusively with Flat, Lo Sheen, Low Lustre, Medium Lustre, Matte, Satin, and Egg Shel.

I will use the 1/2 for the higher sheen materials.

Per the advise of Wise Painter who is again, AWOL, I will try the 1" on ceilings. However the thought of this makes me nervous.

I am also contemplating trying the Wooster Polar Bear.

It is good to keep trying new things in this business. So many people get stuck in a rut and before they know it a new idea or concept shakes them up.

So you hate the original Purdy Colossus, but love the exact duplicate of the Colossus made by Wooster?

AWOL indeed!
Who would have thunk that the 3/4" nap was appropriate for anything above a flat ceiling?!? The 1" kills ceilings with time to $pare, and it also holds onto maximum paint for minimal face painting.
For anything higher that satin/egshel sheen I whip out the mohair, or solid white 4" foamy whizzbanger on a 6" long frame.
