Proclassic Semigloss Doesn't Look Very Shiny
I know it is semi gloss but the HO pointed out that the trim looked closer to flat or eggshell than it does semigloss. I do have to agree that it doesn't look like semigloss. Anyone else ever noticed this with proclassic latex.

no, I did have customer complain that the gloss wasnt glossy enough though. I switched to promar 200 gloss and never went back, its great. (its not enamal though so there is a trade off).

Nah...I was just looking at some trim I did about 6 months ago with pro classic and it had a nice sheen to it. It looked awesome against the walls done in Duration satin.

Do you guys do much gloss trim with satin walls? Around here it is all satin trim and washable flat walls.

I try to talk the customer towards satin walls and semi trim. That is typical unless it's new construction it's flat walls, semi trim. I just don't like the look of flat paint, and to me it seems a waste to put something on that can't be wiped off once in a while. I only do flat if I'm forced to, or if it's an exterior that shouldn't have a sheen on it.

How many coats did you do? When I do 1 prime and 2 finish I think it looks good--it's like a "soft" gloss---dont let 1 customer steer you away from it though...it's awesome paint

Re: Proclassic Semigloss Doesn't Look Very Shiny
Although this is rare, I have found that the can I was using, sometimes didn't jive with the code on the lid.... A manufacturing flaw? After some digging, I found out that the paint and the lid should always be right, it's the label on the can, that can sometimes get oop'st.
This is a pretty rare occurance and probably means nothing in this situation, just wanted to point it out however... |

Re: Proclassic Semigloss Doesn't Look Very Shiny
ProClassic Waterborne does have a lower sheen level. SW rates its semi-gloss at 35 to 45 units. The oil is rated at 40 to 50 units, the same as ProMar 200 oil. When we use the waterborne we usually step up on sheen level.
