Primer


What brand of primer does everyone use for new construction.. I've used several, but havn't settled on a particular brand yet.

I don't do new construction, but I use several different primers for different applications. What specific application are you referring to? Bare drywall? Wood trim?

It would be bare drywall. I usually use Porter paints..

Only Porter primer I use is BlankIt.
Fairly pricey for new construction, but a real good product.
For bare drywall (when painting) I usually use either BM Freshstart or BM Regal First Coat.
For wallcovering I use Zinsser's GARDZ.

USG Firstcoat primer is my best bet.

See if your Porter dealer carries any Pittsburgh products. PPG owns both companies. We use all Porter for topcoats, but Pittsburgh's primers are great. For new construction Pitt's Hi Build 6-4 is good stuff and very economical.

For new I like the Pittsburgh Speed-Hide primer/sealer
Works great, very economical
