Pricing Wallpaper Removal
i've been pricing wallpaper removal by the hr....seemed fair tough removal more $...easy removal less money....however lost jobs because of the unknown ...customer wanted a price...how does everyone here price wallpaper removal jobs??...if you do give a price what do you do when you discover that there are many layers involved??do you adjust the price accordingly??

Re: Pricing Wallpaper Removal
I need $600.00 per day...first I always do a test section, see whats behind there, then I still price 1.5 days for removal, and repairing walls. This is on an average size kitchen ie.
So we're taking 1K to remove the paper and get the walls repaired, then figure what its going to take for prime and paint. |

Re: Pricing Wallpaper Removal
if you do a test spot and see that there is more than 1 layer of paper do you up your price and if so by how much?? and what happens if the one wall you tested is the only wall in the kitchen with only 1 layer of paper??do you ultimate eat the additional labor time it takes you to take it down/repair the walls??
T & M????= charge by the hr??? |

Re: Pricing Wallpaper Removal
I always give two prices for wallpaper removal, the customers have always accepted this. I tell them one price if it was done properly then it will usually come off easy with minimal repair and another if they superglued it and the wall comes off with it.

Re: Pricing Wallpaper Removal
I usuallly throw a price at them to steam and pull. And then spackling.
For smaller rooms it could be as low as $300. For bigger rooms it could be as high as $1000

same thing with scraping popcorn ceiling.
I'll look at it. And give a price as to how much I think its worth my time and effort.

Re: Pricing Wallpaper Removal
We've removed so much paper until we almost have it to a science...close enough that I know it will never take more than 1.5 days on a large kitchen to remove and repair.

If you don't know what T&M is maybe you shouldn't be bidding work...

Re: Pricing Wallpaper Removal
I do a test spot, then usually can make a fair assessment of the work involved and put in a bid
I do put a blurb in the contract about price is based on test area and may change with "unforeseen removal problems" and then work stops and a new price is submitted
