Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
I am giving a bid on repainting kitchen cabinets white. They are previously painted. I plan on spraying doors and drawers at home and then returning. The insides are white and do not need painted. I have no clue on how to price this. It would only take about a day of work to prep and paint them. However, I think one day of labor is too cheap for this. I was thinking 800 bucks labor. Is this crazy high, crazy low? There are a but load of cabinets and some crown to brush.

Re: Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
$800 sounds fair to me.
If you've done your homework to figure out your over head to determine your minimum hourly rate, then if you charge your day rate you at least know you're making a profit. If I bid a job low based on labor, I never feel bad becasue I know at least I'm not loosing money and the customer is getting a fair deal. Only is the job turns out to be a big hassel and I didn't charge enough, then I get pi$$ed. |

Re: Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
One day of labor include removing them, removing the hardware, setting them up in your shop, painting them, painting the cages/frame in the house by hand, driving the drawers/doors back, re-installing the hardware and then installing the d/ds?
If yes, then one day rate + gas + materials + sundries + a little job PITA factor is fair

I charge 100 per door.. ya it's expensive, but then again you can buy cheapo cabinets from blowes for the same price.

Re: Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
dont let these jobs fool you...I just finished one that I thought was a solid 4 day gig, just finished at day 5 today...
your job sounds much easier than mine...I had wainscoting, trim, ceiling, walls, and cabinets I would bid a bid for 2 full days worth, whatever that includes and go with it

Re: Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
Heh, 100 covers the door/body/drawer... sorta like old 16 pane windows that need reglazing, I tell people upfront, it will cost less for you to replace these now than for me to reglaze them, repaint them and hope they last another 5 years. Last year I did a set of cabinets for 1200.00, she coulda bought new ones but liked the old... like my dad used to say "ANYTHING is possible, for the right amount".

Re: Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
Like...$100 a "section"?
If there's one cabinet door, or three drawers, in the same "unit", is it $100? Or if it's three drawers, is it $300?

Re: Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
Ya, section... one section would include a drawer and door if they were one section, or three drawers.... Unless its like 8 feet high.....

Re: Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
Definitely more than one day for me. I would figure one day to take down, degrease, sand and clean. Another day for spraying and facing off the cabinets (assuming you live close to the job and can face them off between coats on the doors). Another .5 day to bring them back and install.

Re: Pricing Kitchen Cabinets
I have to recant slightly, just noticed he said they were already painted... 50 per unit.
