Flaking Aluminum Siding?? Warning! Warning!

Before I took it on I'd want to know whats going on with the surface. We usually see plenty of chalking on aluminum but not much flaking.

Scraping and recoating could cause some of the existing coating to start coming off if the present bond is suspect.

I'd want someone with plenty of experience to make some recommendations first. You might get a coating rep out to take a look and make some suggestions.

my $.02

price help

I would rent a hotsy power washer and blast as much off as possible. Prime and recoat with 100% acrylic flat paint. I like Porter or SW it would run 7500 in my area of the country. Good Luck. I love em. Mike

if the homeowner is going to drop 7500 he should just go with new vinyl. I would think for 10,000 he could have vinyl. If he wanted to take all the old siding off himself that price would come down. He could then take that to a scrap metal yard and leave with a few bucks in his pocket.
