Price Check on some paints.....
Just got my new price listings from SW and ICI.
They look REALLY good to me, but I wanted to run them by everyone esle to see how they stack up.
I'm part of a large organization, so I'd expect these numbers to be pretty good, but I could be wrong.
Duration Home Interior Matte, $26/gal
Duration Home Interior Semi-Gloss, $29/gal
ProMar 400, $10.15/GAL
SuperPaint Ext Flat, $18.50/gal
Sherlastic (elastomeric), $12.80/gal
Good? or no?

Dulux Velvet Matte - 15.97
Ultra Hide Flat - 13.13
Dulux Eggshell - 16.98
Fortis Ext. Flat - 25.99
Fortis Ext. Satin - 26.99
You seem to have me beat.
My discount is actually better then it should be though, I kinda get fed the same prices as my ex-boss, he spends a whole lot more then I ever will on supplies and materials, but I managed to keep his prices when I left. If my sales rep ever leaves I doubt my prices will remain the same, he kinda owed me favors for always telling the boss that every other paint he ever had me try was inferior to ICI. I always promised them that I would spray the Sherwin rep when he came out with us to prime a house, but the one time he did I was out sick and didnt get the chance, I wonder what I could have got out of them if I had sprayed him.

there is a buying group I may be able to set people up with if they want.
First, I have to see if I can do it, and second, I'd need to run it by the Mods of the site.
Right now the buying group is only for ICI, but SW is being added I believe. There's tons of other things like Dell, GE Capital, Nextel, Holiday Inn, etc.
I check on it and let everyone know.
One funny thing....I've got a guy that insists on Duration paint for his exterior. I said ok, fine. I think my price is still $36 a gallon for that stuff......geezzzzz

I know what you are talking about... i don't think it would be cool since you would benefit from it financially. I think it would be ok if you simply posted the information where they could sign up on their own...

no idea
I was having issues with prices I was getting at my main SW and other SW's in the area. Different pricing. So, my manager got on that and fixed my prices so they are set when my account pops up anywhere. Seems logical to do that from the beginning, but I guess it wasn't.
So, low and behold...I pay $13 less than any shmo who walks in and buys Duration

SW is bad about this sort of thing. Per location some managers will be adamant on price and some will cut it to just above cost just to get your business. SW is selling one of our regulars their ext oil for $22 a gallon. Call them for a price and it's about $50.

What paint? I don't believe they sell an oil topcoat anymore.

you must use it a lot. That's a very good price. We don't use it too much, so our price is not that good.
Funny thing happened today though. I need 500 gallons of ICI block filler. Our national price is $31.05 per 5 gallon. I call and ask if I can get a better price for a bigger order. They tell me over the phone no, it's a national contract and they can't mess with it.
So when I get to the store, they say...ok, we'll give it to you for $25. $6! freak'n dollars off what's suppose to be a good price already. I saved $600 right there.

I'm not sure I would benefit directly myself, I'm just part of the group, so it may help me get better prices because there is more volume in the group.
I'll look more into it.

If it's not going to benefit you... it will benefit my friend Mike Melon...
I'm assuming that you are talking about Team National
http://www.bign.com/TeamNational.aspx?site=mjmelon
This is the site for my freind Mike Melon. He and his wife are hurricane Katrina survivors. He WILL financially benefit if you sign up under him. He's been trying to get me to sign up for some time... my problem is that I don't HAVE time.
I met the Melons when they came to live temporarily in Spartanburg. Our company gave them office space to use while they tried to put their lives back together after they lost nearly EVERYTHING. Mike has been written about in MANY newspapers. He purposely stayed behind to help evacuate the elderly in his neighborhood. He saved a bunch of people from certain death!
So, if anyone is interested you can contact Mike Melon - mpmelon@charter.net

They make an SWP exterior oil. This is what he is buying dirt cheap. The price they quote me on the phone (cell phone so no caller ID) is about $50 which is a little higher than I sell Pratt and Lambert's exterior oil Redseal. Yes this guy walks in and tells him he is getting his paint from me now and they give his the SWP for $22 a gallon just to try and get his business back. That's less than I pay for P&L and they surely won't work with me to offer prices like this.

Why would they? Can you offer the sales that the customer can?

I mean P&L won't work with me to allow me to sell their product at a reasonably close price.
