Plaster Crown Molding Install Prices...

plaster crown molding install prices...
Hello all,

I am new to this site and am looking for some help. I am doing some custom crown molding work in a very expensive are in the heart of New York City. It is a brownstone/townhome across the street from central park. I need some helppricing this job.
There are three types of moldings

- 5inches on the ceiling and 5inches on wall - 626 lf

- a 2 piece that extends 1ft 2 7/8 inches on the ceiling and 8inches on the wall - 82 lf

-10inch on celing and 8 7/8inches on the wall 382 lf

there are about 100 corners
and 5 bends that are extremly difficult that extend 15lf which have to be cut onsite with a knife, sanding and plaster

I have done crown molding like this before but not this size and bend is under the stairways and it isnt 90 degrees. it is a circular bend.

all information is appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Plaster Crown Molding Install Prices...

Create, sounds like , you say you have done this type of work before, then you should know it's better to use T&M. You will need to make your horse with your crown profile, as for the bends you will need to figure out your radius points of the arc by T square method. or you may have to use the method of bisected chords to find the point of the arc. Now there are a few molds that you may need to make if you don't have them, You may need any of the following molds for this repair job. Tail mold, Panel mold, Hanging mold, Boxed mold or a double slipper mold, Adjustable splay mold. So depending on the type of crown these molds will have to be made so you can reproduce the crowns. as for price for New York, It's top dollar so make it worth your time, the other thing is if there are allot of bids then your numbers may need to be tight. sorry I can't give you a number but union is paying around $32.00 to $45.00 an hour, Then the other thing is your crew and how fast they can work to get the job done. Good luck take some pictures of the job and post them I would like to see what you have going.
