phone ringing off the hook

We have been out of work for 6 weeks now. In the last 4 days we have got 10 calls for painting is this going on any where else?

Yup... it's a yearly phenomenon called "tax returns". Feb 1 to Apr 1, more or less.

Get your advertising worked up to launch to correspond with the new rebate that's going through the works, and reap the rewards. Word on the street is that those checks may hit the streets as early as May 15.

In PA every year things get slow around Thanksgiving and don't pick back up till a few weeks into the New Year but this year it started a little early and lasted a little longer. Bad economy? Maybe the hacks working for peanuts!

The only way I got any time off this season was by telling people I was away for Xmas (not true). If the phone quits ringing now, I'm booked through the summer.

Perfect, where are you? (eh?)

I think it's a little of both. It seems like whenever someone gets laidoff from their office job they decide they will go into construction and its lowering everyones prices.
