Personal choice for poly brush

I seem to be doing more staining recently and use rags to apply the stain and wipe off and then use a purdy 2.5 angle white china brush to apply polyurethan. Haven't invested in a HVLP yet and don't think I will anytime soon.

What brush does everyone else use to apply poly? And what size? Also I have heard of some people applying stain with a brush, anyone do this instead of rags. Just wondering what others are using these days.

I prefer rags. Easier to wipe off excess with.

wisepainter, What brush do you prefere for stain? Any oil brush like white china work? I've been doing my staining for years with rags but always willing to try new ways.

Also what brush to you guys like for poly? I have had pretty good luck with the purdy white china 2.5 angle brush.

I pretty much use the white china 2.5 for most staining work to get even coverage, then do the rag thing to remove excess. If it is larger work I use a 3" white china or spraying the stain on is also an option, the air looks really cool with a dark stain particulate mist!
