Peeling Ceiling Paint :(
Alright, to get started. This ceiling had just been framed and drywall was hung weeks ago, then sprayed with a primer. This low hanging ceiling has a vent runing threw it. We showed up to finnish it and we got some ez sand up there, sanded and primed; all was good. We put our first coat on and when it dried it had peeled slightly in some areas, no problem we scraped the paint off more ez sand and painted again. this time more paint peeled off and it happened as we were painting. So we tried again and it got worse. So then we tried wood filler in place of ez sand, the paint did the same thing. Now we thought it was the vent in the ceiling screwing us but the paint is peeling all over. I've read the deal on calcemine and latex but theres no calcemine here, and the vent has been turned off. Im gonna scrap it, sprey kilz on it, mud it and sprey more kilz; if this doesn't work im gonna burn the house down. Im runnin out of ideas and im new to the website so I don't know if this is where to post this but here it is. Help is apprietiated. Thanks

Re: Peeling Ceiling Paint :(
The problem is the EZ sand that is crap, I had that problem a year ago my brother and I were doing a kitchen remodel. He says let's use EZ sand 20, I told him let's use Durabond 20 (Brown Bag) He says man EZ sand is so much better to work with, so I told him fine. well we hit the patch and let it dry then sanded it out put primer on it let it dry then started to put finish paint on the ceiling and then it started to peel every spot we did with the EZ sand
WTF! I took a 6" knife and scraped all the EZ sand spots off the ceiling, I mixed up some Durabond 20 hit the patchs let it dry shave the repairs light sand hit them with prime and then came back next day paint the kitchen out No Problems, That was the last time I used that crap and I will not use it again, With Durabond I know it's going to be hard as a rock that EZ crap is just that Crap!

Re: Peeling Ceiling Paint :(
I have had no problems I am aware of with EZ Sand, except I'm not sure where the "easy sand" part comes in. I do topcoat it with regular or finishing mud though. I don't think I have ever used the 20 minute, usually 40 min.

Re: Peeling Ceiling Paint :(
You mention that you just framed it, did you use kiln dried wood or could the lumber still be wet?
