Painting Rates In SF

Hi,

I am a decorative finisher (plaster & faux). My faux clients have asked me to help them out by painting 2 additional rooms (standard painting). Because I don't typically do straight painting without faux over top I am not sure what the appropriate rate would be to charge. I obviously cannot charge Decorative artist rates.

One average size room about 320 sq ft and a small room about 220 sq ft. WALLS ONLY, no ceiling, lots of protection needed because of windows, doors, 1 ft. high baseboards, hardwood floor etc. Both rooms are very dark green in color and will be painted light colors, so I am basing the cost on one coat High Hiding primer and 2 coats of color per room. Paint will be acrylic and rolled.

Anyone have a good idea of the sq. ft. rate I should be charging?

Thanks,
Chaka

Mmmm...no, it's not obvious why you can't charge your regular rate
Is you overhead going to be less or more?
Is your liability insurance rate going to change?
Will your helpers or you work for a different rate?
Will your bookkeeper charge a different rate for putting this transaction on the books?
Charge your regular rate
It can't be that much less than what a Quality Painting Company charges

Ah...that could be an issue
I would absolutely not recommend using a sq. ft. rate for charging custom interior occupied repaints
There's not nearly enough information in the sq. ft. numbers alone to make a realistic attempt to figure out how long it's going to take you (thus how much to charge)
Occupied re-paints have waaaaaaaaaaaayyyy to many "ifs"
