Painting A Pool
Just wondered if any of you guys came across painting a pool?
Whether a recoat or new or previously blasted surface. |

Re: Painting A Pool
I did an indoor pool last year. Found out that today most of the pool paint available is a rubber stuff... Unfortunately the one I did was done with 2 part epoxy... which meant I had to use the same stuff. Worked out great though.

Re: Painting A Pool
It was a repaint. The original paint had just faded, not peeled. We had just removed all the dust Shop Vac & Tack, and did one coat.
Done. The pool had been empty for about 8 months before, as the HO had intended to do this himself at first. Then became ill, and had to retire early from his job. Since he couldn't travel anymore, He decided to just fix up his home instead. Had the pool have had water in it, I think I would've passed on the project. Too many "what if's" with a wet pool... |

Re: Painting A Pool
Interesting...pools pop outta the ground?!?! That's definitely not something I would have known off the top of my head.
CPS, how frequent is this occurence? As for pool coatings....I'm not touching it with a ten foot pole. I have looked into what it takes once or twice, but there's more to it than paint that resists chlorine. If you don't use the right product depending on the type of surface inside the pool you can really cause troubles. I'm sure CPS can offer more advice in that sector. Pools aren't like most surfaces that we come across as painters.

Re: Painting A Pool
Here, we call that a "pop". With groundwater usually just a few feet below the surface a drained pool can quickly become a ferrocement boat.
