Painting Over Wallpaper
I have been asked to bid on on a project involving painting over vinyl wallpaper which is firmly adhered to bare drywall. I can't give an hourly bid, so I need help pricing the project. I need to seal the seams, skim coat the walls, prime, paint, & seal edges with latex caulk. This is a commercial project, square footage 1,600 sq/ft. Any help would be greatly, GREATLY, appreciated!!! PS: The location of the project is in the midwestern part of the country. THANKS!!!

WHY do you need to paint over commercial vinyl on drywall? If it was installed with proper adhesive, it will pull off of wall - perhaps with some damage, which would take less to repair than what you are proposing and give you piece of mind that you did it CORRECTLY.
But what do I know, I only hang high-end residential goods.
PWG, should be weighing in refuting or confirming what I said

Sorry Bill, I get tired of telling people it's wrong to go over wallcoverings, so I just dodge the thread.

some will beat me on this but, we paint over wall paper from time to time.
Sometimes we remove and skim coat
My skim coat crew actually skim coated over wall paper on my current job. Still holding up well.
my methods arent the safest, but it has held up for us for many many years

I understand the concept of painting over paper coverings when they are attached to raw drywall and not removable w/o major sheetrock damage
But that's usually not the case with vinyl, and it's gonna be tough to paint that stuff
I would remove it
Good luck

I wouldn't paint over it. I don't like call backs.
