Painting Over Stain Exterior
I have a house that has a solid stain (pretty sure it's latex) and the HO wants it painted. Has some mildew and very little flaking. Will 1 or 2 coats of duration be enough (maybe some emulsa bond) or will this need a full coat of primer?

Re: Painting Over Stain Exterior
Duration straight from the can is a great finish. We use Satin. BM makes the Aura now and I think it is FAR better than the duration. No need to prime for eighter one. Two coats and see ya.

Re: Painting Over Stain Exterior
Why does the HO want the shakes painted as opposed to stained? Actually either will work as long as you properly prepare the surface. Killing the mildew is a must, then washing the house down after. Duration is an excellent product however you can always spot prime and go over it with ANY premium quality latex paint. Two coats over a well prepared surface should yield good long-lasting results.
