Painting Over Soot...

Painting is not my trade but I hopped over here to get my mind out of the gutter and learn how to paint.

I am thinking of buying a house that has minimal fire damage but has soot throughout the entire house. Can you guys hold my hand and tell me step by step what to do.

I planned on coating everything with I think Kilz or Binz primer? Do I need to wash with TSP first? Or just light a match and fiinish it off for good.

Older home and I am looking to sell it again or lease it out, so I am not looking to spend a whole lot of money - - - just my blood and sweat.

Thanks.

Re: Painting Over Soot...

Wash it first with a TSP or Dirtex or Soilax w/water type mix.
Then prime with BIN.
