Question

Painting At High Heights

I've been wondering for quite some tme now about how much work is available for painting light, sign and flag poles at high heights. Do any of you get asked to complete painting projects such as this? Are there contractors out there that specialize in this?
Aside from painting, I do a decent amount of tree trimming and removal. I've been contemplating on buying a bucket truck for a few years now and am concerned about keeping an expensive piece of equipment like this utilized if purchased.

Re: Painting At High Heights

A buddy of mine bought a bucket truck for his small sign company and had the same dilemma, he came up with a great side gig to pay for the truck. He cut deals with a bunch of local companies to maintian their buildings, he would go once a month and powerwash the front of the building and clean the signs. He would change any bad bulbs and do a drive by each week to see if there were any issues. He did it cheap enough that business was good and he did it after 6pm so it did not interfere with the sign co. It paid off the truck 3 yrs early and he landed alot of other business just by being available and in front of the customers. His biggest customers were the storage unit companies, they need to keep up the image and dont want the hassel of doing it themselves. Just some input.

I would think that you could charge a pretty decent buck for that type of work.

That's a plan that comes together. Sounds like your buddy has a pretty good head on his shoulders.
