painting estimate

Hey all i got a paiting estimate form a local guy thats supsed to be pretty well priced. The thing is i must have underestamated paiting prices!

The area im looking to have done is an office space,1400 square feet of floor space and roughly 3200 square feet of wall. 8 foot ceilings, but with a drop ceiling so no need for paint... 6 doors and base board all around. I thought this would be a quick and painless job on my coin purse. The price i got sounds crazy to me 10,000? does this sound outragous? thats materials and all inculded, im not a painter so i dont have a clue, im waiting on some other quotes today so i figured id ask on here in the mean time to ocupy my time?

Whats your take ever one ? Just so you know im in RI

sounds like he did not look at the job as described did he exclude the ceiling,? based on your description I'm guessin around 4000 max. unless you have to do work on an unusual schedule.

Can you give us more information please.

Are your painters going to work during regular hours or at night? Does this include floors or any block/brick walls? Are all 3200 sq ft of walls fixed partitions and 8 feet tall, or will this include a warehouse area with taller ceilings? One color or more? Designs? What color(s) is/are on the wall now? What type of paint was specified in your bid request, latex or oil?

Not knowing this type of information makes pricing a job such as this a craps shoot. Your painter got to look at the job before pricing this for you. We don't have that opportunity. Help us out.

its plain and simple as far as im concerned 3200 sq feet brand new drywall so primer + 2 coats of paint. No brick, no ceilings no floors, all walls are 8 feet tall. 6 doors with colonial trim and base bords all around. its 8 small rooms all white in every room(latex). my plan was to have them in there dureing the day time nothing unussual i predicted this taking a week. Am i tottally clue less on painting prices? or is this the norm? it really seems simple to me? but what do i know im a carpenter?

i crunched the numbers on mypaintbid assuming 3 coats and came up with $5750- that is a little on the high side for 1 color(white throughout)
As I stated earlier you are around $4000 for this job

Looking around $4500 to $6500
Depends on prepwork too
If the drywall finishers did a nice job then on the lower side

The price you see reflects around $1500 for profit if you cared
