Painting Ceilings?

I have a customer who wanted his whole house sprayed the same color. Now he has changed his mind and wants half of his ceilings white and the other ones painted the same color as the walls but just a different sheen. How much would you guys charge do to the different color changes?

Re: Painting Ceilings?

I would guesstimate the amount of time it would take, multiply that by what I want for a rate and go from there.
Good Luck

Re: Painting Ceilings?

I am just finishing a job right now that is basically the same. Originally started out to be sprayed all the same color/sheen (flat off-white), now a few changes- flat ceilings (some white and some off-white), and satin walls. I ended up spraying all the white ceilings at one time, flushing the sprayer and sprayed the rest of the ceilings, flushing it again and cut in the walls at the ceiling and brought them down one roller width (10-12 inches), and sprayed the rest of the walls and backrolled them.

Job looks great, customer was really happy, and it only added about four hours to the original contract. It took an additional 10 to 15 minutes per room to cut in the walls at the ceiling, plus the extra time to flush the pump. Charged them an extra $275 (no PITA charge, they are good people) and they were thrilled, they figured it would be more than that. They were relativly simple color/sheen changes and the house layout made spraying a piece of cake.

Figure out how many extra hours it will take, including flushing the pump and additional masking/tarping if needed, and charge accordingly. You have to factor in the PITA (Pain In The A$$) charge as well. If it is a good customer, the PITA factor is much lower than for a jerk customer.

Same as a new job would be (like it was a different customer), ceiling only, 1 coat

Actual numbers?
What the sq ft?
Texture?
PITA?
House still empty, or now full of furniture?
