Paint Order Differnt New Construction/Spraying

I have been reading through the threads and have found may threads debating the order of ceiling, walls trim or ceiling trim walls

The previous threads that I saw delt with repaint. What I was wondering was do you guys adjust the order at all with construction, especially when spraying?

On new construction when I can, I spray primer before the doors and trim are installed. If time permits I also paint the ceiling and first coat the walls before the doors/molding goes up. I then paint, install and caulk the doors/trim. Next paint second coat on walls. Flooring guy comes in and does his thing. I install the shoe molding and touch up of paint scuffed during flooring install.

If other trades are flexible how much painting do you guys like to do before the doors/trim go up?

It's all preference...some guys do it one way... others another
I spray my primer..then let the trim guys put up everything they can,
then I caulk and prep.. and then spray the trim..then cut and roll walls
other guys do it different if they don't spray the trim... or there is other factors as well.. say if the whole house is to be the same color.. then maybe we would do the walls first (spray).

Doesn't matter if your a DIY or a pro... top down.

to answer your question however, I don't like to touch it until the trim is up.

I'm pretty sure we can all agree on priming everything first and finish coating the ceiling as being pretty standard...after that, it's personal preference

I personally have never met a painter who

a) sprayed finish on walls
b) painted walls before trim

Depends on the painter, builder and what paint. this is why new construction is mostly flat paint. You can do it any way you want and touch up the walls with flat. Some people do finish paint all the drywall before the trim goes up, in flat. Then the trim is installed and finished, then the walls are touched up. If your builder, or his other trades really mess up the walls, you're screwed.

Some builders hire seperate crews to do the spray outs and someone else does the finish work. This info is in addition to the other posts. Not exclusive, but another way it's done.

For those that spray the walls and have touchup to do, how do you touchup a sprayed wall? Hope this is not hijacking.

Bt the way, I have painted the walls before the trim in case of minor splatters on trim. Sometimes depends on how hard the trim is to cut in.

I agree, but some do not backroll. Those are the ones that I wonder how they touch up.

The new construction I do is all enamel. I spray everything. Most of the touchup is in the halls and kitchen from trade damage. I have had no problems doing touchup until recently when SW changed the formula on the Promar, they said it was better for doing touchup, I had the reps out on the job yesterday scratching their heads, said they will get back to me.
