Paint And Horses
My vet built a horse barn next to his office out of cinderblock, about 10 feet up, then wood. The stalls are block also. I have painted plenty of block, no problem. The vet and I talked about any effect it would have on horses in stall, he says they chew/lick anything. I don't think it would be an issue, niether does he. I told him I check with my "research" dept.
Any thoughts? Thanks |

Re: Paint And Horses
lol well this painter and horse lover agrees with the vet.......they do chew and lick everything. While beautiful they certainly aren't the most intelligent beast in the barn. I live in some of the most beautiful horse country in Ontario and know that often when fencing is being painted great care is taken to ensure that the surround grass area is covered up to the best of the painters ability. Even then the grass would/should be cut and raked up before allowing the horses back into the paddocks/fields.
Like people, horses are having more and more health issues caused by their environment so anything you can do to reduce the risk is good. After a recent conversation with a friend and horse owner I know that latex is the paint of their choice though not always the most practical. She'll also only paint in the spring/summer so that the horses don't need to be in the barn for several days after painting. She may be over cautious.......but that's what horse owners do. ![]() Cheers Mary Last edited by Flikka; 12-04-2007 at 06:36 AM. |
