Paint Bid

Have a warehouse that has 9 offices and hallway. Hallway 720 sq ft.
The office are 350 sq ft. all I have to paint is walls. no prime, no trim, just have to wipe down walls to put on new coat. Should I bid T&M or charge per square foot. Using interior white paint nothing fancy.

Thanks

Re: Paint Bid

I would bid sq ft based on my historical data. In my area it's almost impossible to bid T&M on commerical work unless there are special conditions that you just cant account for during the bid process.

Re: Paint Bid

Sq. ft. pricing is determined by calculating all overhead, time, and materials, plus any profit margin. Figure your job by how much you need to make depending on how long it will take. His sq. ft. price isn't going to do you any good, because you don't have his overhead, you have your own. If they need a sq. ft. price, divide your total by the sq. ft. of the job and you can provide that.

Bid by your costs, not by magical sq. ft. numbers.

I agree with AA on this one. I bid by sq ft on commerical but I have years of data to look back on and know from experience that my numbers work for me. I track production on every job and review my numbers at least every two months or whenever there is an increase in material costs.
