Outdoor Siding Stain

Im sorry if its been asked before but I dont get over this way much and the search didnt provide much.

I just built a outdoor structure for one of our horses and sided it with the rough pine plywood siding that has grooves every 8 inches. Menards carries it.

We plan on staining it. Other outdoor structure was stained and need to keep things the same because of subdivision covenants and property value.
What is the best way for me to approach the project with the idea that it will look good and will last at least 10+ yrs.
I dont mind doing things the best way if it will last.

Thanks guys for your help.

Re: Outdoor Siding Stain

I'd use Cabot oil primer tinted about 1/2 to 1 shade lighter than the top coat and then apply Cabot ProVT latex. If you want it to last longer put a second topcoat on. I'd either brush all the groves and roll the flats or spray and back brush everything to make sure that it's covering fully and worked into the wood.

Recently completed a project and part of it was to re-stain the entire home which was board and batten pine. The painter used a stain made by "Flood" Awesome is all I can say, excellent coverage, no overlap problems.

Cabot provt... spray/roll and back brush first coat... does't require a primer
