Ordered A New Toy For My Airless Rig

Finally broke down and ordered a Titan power roller for my airless rig. I've been looking at these puppies for a few months, comparing brands and options. Decided to go with a quality brand and see how it goes. I have a lot of jobs where preventing overspray is near impossible, especially in a home where we want to protect the flooring. Lately most jobs have been brush and roll while the sprayer sits unused. Can't wait for its arrival, as it will be put into service immediately (I'm holding off on a project until it arrives!)

Re: Ordered A New Toy For My Airless Rig

I dont want to burst anybodys bubble, but the pressure roller does not work very well. There are end caps that go on the end of the roller to keep the paint from coming out the sides. What you will find is you will have to have these caps so tight that the roller will not want to spin "freely". If you have these caps loose enough that the roller spins freely they will eventually come loose and you will have paint oozing out the sides. I would shy away from using it on an interior. My best success was on exterior block. If you try using it on too smooth of a surface it just pushes and slides the paint, it does not roll it. The kit also comes with a spray and roll attatchment which is pretty sweet. You can spray and backroll all in one shot. I will admit I did not give the pressure roller much of a chance, but I did test drive it on an interior repaint and had paint ooze out more than once, it kind of pizzed me off. Also the spray line was really a hassle on an interior, it really seemed to get in the way.

Good Luck,

LeRoy

Myself I bought a titan first, then bought a graco...in this case the graco outperformed the titan ...other then the endcap issues with titan...they both worked fine !!!!!

Re: Ordered A New Toy For My Airless Rig

I only bought the pressure roller type, not the whole kit that has the spray nozzle included. I'll give it a test drive. At least then my curiosity will be quenched.

Heard a lot about the Graco. I might end up with that, too.

Painterofeverything,

What kinds of jobs do you use it on? Do you use it on interiors?

Thanks,

Re: Ordered A New Toy For My Airless Rig

I didn't have good experiences with power rollers in interiors either. The time i saved applying the paint ,i spent cleaning up the mess it made, besides it is heavier because of the hose.
If that was that good ,we would to see more painters using them.
But, what doesn't work to me might work to you guys.
Good Luck! Let me know if you like it.
