Old Gear

I just got some old tips out of a crate of stuff from my neighbor (her boyfriend moved out and left a bunch of his old painting supplies behind).

Anyway these tips are pre-switch tip. I was wondering if there was any reason to mess with them or just chuck em?

And while we're on the old gear subject are there any other pumps or tools out there you keep your eye out for that you just can't get any more?

Re: Old Gear

Ever see one of those old texture tubs or bottom outlet pots. You can sure apply alot of texture coatings and coating like Duroplex with those. Works good in confined areas where a bulldog or some other huge pump might be a bit too much.

I used to have one that someone made out of a big air tank. The put a hole in it and a lid on it and put some wheels on it, added a regulator and it worked like a charm. I dont remember the number on that gun, maybe 6310 or 6210 or something like that? It was a big one.

One time I bought a texture rig that had this home made gun on it. LOL It was the bottom part of a hopper gun with a radiator hose that was bent at a 90 degree angle and hose clamped to the hopper gun (the metal part). The other end of the radiator hose was clamped to a fitting that connected to a 3/4" fluid line that went to the bottom outlet pot. It worked surprisingly great. Just like a hopper that holds about 50 gallons of stuff. Just drape the hose over your shoulder and it is a lot lighter too. LOL

It worked perfect for Duroplex coatings.

Re: Old Gear

If the tips you are talking about are the flat heads, use them. I order 50 at a time from my SW store and get them for 4.50 a pop. I can shoot a whole New Construction inside with a 621 flathead with no problems, outsides are a little trickier with the 515's but work well. I bet I save over $1,000 a year on mainly using flathead tips...try it and see how it works. I don't swear by them, but they work and are an 1/8th of the price of gracos.

chuck those tips

the old timers swear that the Binks Superbee was one of the best airless pumps ever made. if I found a decent one at a good price, i''d buy it.
