Oil Base On Top Of Water Base Stain For Wood Floors

Hi everyone
I have a customer who wants water base stain and an oil base poly on top.
I have always used the same base for both. Can Oil base poly go on top of waterbase stain?
Thanks in advance. ( wood floors)

From what I've learned: Generally, you can put a water base on top of an oil base but not the other way around. The reason for this is that water based products retain some flexibility when cured, while oil-based products do not. SO, if the base flexes the oil topcoat can crack.
