Never Paint Again

We have been seeing a few ads in our local magazines with that title, as well as LIFETIME EXTERIOR WARRANTY... Do any of you know about this so called space age ceramic coating that these contractors are selling? I do know it's a sprayed on finish only. Porters is selling the Perminizer line but it's not the same product. If you do a search for Florida Lifetime Coatings... you can get some info. Teetor: Have you seen this down your way? AA Paint: How about up in Jax. I'm not to sure about giving a Lifetime warranty on anything. The last couple of exterior bids the homeowners have requested this. I would assume they have been approached, and must be shopping price. What to do? Thanks guys!

Is that the same thing as "paint on siding" that I've seen advertised up my way? I've seen some paint jobs with that stuff, and it's got high build. Almost reminds you of "Rhino Liner" sprayed on a house.

Not sure... I "think" Teetor or Prowall would know.

You know, I have heard of one or two of those guys around here. I think one advertises in the mint magazine, but I'm not sure which system he is selling.

Professionally, I know there is no such thing as a lifetime coating, and almost any failure of stuff like that will be blamed on the substrate itself. I also worry about the breathability of the product as well as it's ability to handle settling/cracking of the structure, etc.

It is selling the home owner a pipe dream that could end up costing significantly more in the long run than cleaning the home once a year and checking the caulking, and painting every 5-15 years as the films wear predictively.

Don't worry about that not everyone can afford that product and what happened if the client want to change the color. Do they need to pay again for the product again? ouch...

If you want to know who expensive is call them for an estimate for your house or your mother house and get inform. (that what i do to know who my competitor are charging ) I'm pretty sure you will be relax.

If it's the liquid siding, it is very expensive. I do a lot of work for a gent that had an estimate last summer. He has a 3 story beach home (not sure of square footage). My friend spot scraped, spot primed and painted for $8K. The liquid siding was $44K.

there were 2 guys selling the product at the state fair recently, to me it looks like a very thick epoxy coating and as said is very expensive. They claim no cracks, but i would think that impossible in an area hot summers and cold winters. Dont think the normal painters will have any real competition from them.

Yep...it's called "Spray on siding"...a friend of mine was a salesman for this company up here in CT. It's big down south and slowly coming up this way. It's very durable, but they have no work in the winter....it's only an exterior product. Every bit of it is sprayed....no brushes, no rollers, only sprayed....windows, trim, house, all sprayed......It's applied very very thick.
