Neutrailizing The Smell Of Paint Thinner
Can anyone suggest a remedy (homemade or other) that will eliminate or reduce or neutralize the smell of paint thinner on canvas covers?
This never happens to me when I am doing a job for a client, only happens when I paint my own home I have tried to air it out and wash it in the machine, but smell still there. Any suggestions would be helpful. Have a great holiday everyone - or merry xmas for those politically incorrect paints, like myself. Zeebo Last edited by Zeebo; 12-23-2006 at 01:06 PM. |

I would think that the smell of paint thinner would eventually go away......
Heres an idea that might work, mineral spirits (which paint thinner is made of) is odorless (at least most of them that are sold). So maybe hose it down with mineral spirits and then wash it normally? |

I had a litre of thinner tip over and leak in one of my tarp bins before... Stunk like crazy, but I just immediately took out the tarps hung em on the fence over night... about 2-3 days later, couldn't tell it ever happened.

How about Fabreeze? Or try diluted extracts in a spray bottle, almond, vanilla etc....

Thompsons waterseal waterproofs boat canvas. It should also seal in odors.

Wash it with baking soda and vinegar. About a cup of each in a full sized load. I know.. sounds like a Massengill ad. At least I didn't say to use Country Meadows.
