Need Stucco Help

Hello,

I need help figuring out how to paint an stucco house. The house is about 12 years old, surface is kind of rough and it looks clean. I will be applying loxon from sw. so, my questions are the following:

1. do I need to pressurewash the surface, eventhough; it appers to
be clean?

2. Would one spray coat be anough, or would it take two coats?

3. Do I need to back roll as I go spraying, or would it depends on the color coverage?

Thank you for your help!

Re: Need Stucco Help

First off, I would ask your local SW Rep or Store manager to come take a look at the house. They will be more than happy to do that for you to insure they give you the proper recommendation.

If the surface is chalky after washing, it will be necessary to use Loxon conditioner on the surface as a tie coat. It is always best to wash the surface and rinse it, even if you dont think it is dirty. The Loxon product line has a great primer A24W300. If you have any repair areas, or areas where the existing paint is damaged, spot prime. Full priming is not a bad idea in any case.

Remember that exterior coats last more than twice as long when you apply two coats. Since you are already doing all the washing and prep work, why not apply the second coat and more than double the life expectancy of the paint job?

1. yes pressure wash
2. yes two coats
3. depending on the roughness of the stucco you may need to backroll to get the paint into all the nooks and crannies.

Re: Need Stucco Help

Stucco should be restuccoed only
Painting will trap in water and cause mold problems
