Mural estimate?

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and in the process of starting an interior painting buiness in CT. One of my services is murals (my favorite!). I realize the pricing can vary widely depending on detail, but was wondering if anyone can give me a ballpark range of what they charge. I was thinking an average of $10/square foot if not super detailed. I recently completed this mural roughly 100 square feet in about 7-8 hours and the client was very happy with the results (a volunteer job). I've attctched a pic. Any input would be much appriciated!

Welcome to Contractor Talk™ Forums
I'm a painter in CT
I don't do murals, but my sister-in-law does

Since the product is finished, it will be kind of easy to "estimate" it backwards
For a project like this you're thinking $10 a sq
This one was 10 sq
$1000
Took you 7-8 hrs

....how much did you spend on materials and sundries?
...also, how many days, or trips to the site if more than one on a project like this?

mural costs

This mural was in boston so traveling costs was about $40 total for both trips (plus the agrivation of trying to get out of boston during rush hour!). Material/paint was about $10-20.

Just trying to find a general price range for the area. Since I don't have alot of experince I would rather err on charging a bit under.
thanks again for any input!

What kind of paint do you use for murals like that one? Is it oil or acrylic? Do you glaze it then with a protective coat of what?
Thanks

type of paint

I use artists acrylic paints - the only downside is they dry so fast I don't have much time to blend, but I suppose I could add a glaze. They seems to be fairly durable.
I didn't apply a final protective coat because this was all out of pocket expense to me and honestly didn't want to spend more money. If it were a paid job I would have because it's in a room with lots of kids and could probably use the extra durability.
