Question

Metal Wall Panels For Decor As Wainscot

I am decorating a golf clubhouse with an airplane theme. My idea was to use corregated sheet metal as a wainscot. Can anyone help me with this? Has anyone done this before? Where can I buy the sheet metal? How do you install it? I've tried researching on the web and can't find anything. My project is in Los Angeles, CA. Thanks!!

I have use corregated metal before. I had to order from lumber yard. but you being in LA, Kalifornia. Check metal supply warehouse it comes in different gauges. You want the thin gauge, easier to work. To cut the metal turn your cirgular saw blade backwards.Try PL-400 to secure to wall , use as few screws if possible to keep a clean look. Maybe one at top , middle and bottom. Hope that helps you.

You may want to check out this site. http://www.fordtri-motor.com/ for some ideas. The tri-motor was built out of corrugated material and it might be fun to duplicate the rivet sequence if you can find a close-up.

Do you have any Lone Star Steakhouses in your area? I painted a couple in Chicagoland and they have corrugated galvanized as wainscot on the walls in dining area and bar. Hope this helps, good luck.

I did one wall in my office with it. It looks good and it is cheap and easy. I did it so I could hang stuff on it with magnets, though.

It is available anywhere, but I would caution that it is pretty delicate. If you want to use it in a high traffic area, get the thick stuff (roofing) and use the formed furring materials at a close spacing.

I was wondering if the corrugated metal has a tendecy to oxidize and get dull? The picture looks great, bet you its easy to clean if you kids. Just wipe the little blithers finger smears right off!
