Any feedback good or bad? How about the metabo company? I don't recall seeing the name before Everything was in German, this was called Das Tool in the flyer Thanks in advance

Oooh. If it removes in a smooth even fashion without swirl marks like the other type can cause, it looks like it'd be nice. How's it do on corners and edges though?

They did have pics of it going right up to the edges of stairs Actually they said it was ideal for stairs, doors, and windows And "Highly suitable for handling rabbets" "The paint is removed right into the corners except for a very small radius" I didn't have my tape on me, but it looked like the blade on the floor sample would go to within 1/16th of an inch of the (inside) corner

Re: Metabo 710 Watt Paint Remover LF 724 S
My main man Rick used to use one of those paint shavers (which I assume is very comparable to the one you mention) and he said it worked good. But the cost of replacement blades was pretty steep. He said they used upwards of 10 blades per your average 2 story house, and if I recall correctly, blades cost $10-$15 each. Don't quote me on none of this, I've drank enough coffee this morning to kill a small dog.

Re: Metabo 710 Watt Paint Remover LF 724 S
Have you ever stripped stain and varnish of stairs for a floor man?
This guy handed me a 1 inch scraper (the pulling motion type) and a file and told me to go for it. Of course I sucked at first, but when he showed me that I had to re-sharpen almost as mush as I scraped, it went fairly fast. And we were taking like a Special Walnut staircase down for a natural finish. So it ALL had to go, and it did. I've had LOTS of respect for floor guys ever since. I mean you need wrists and hands like rocks. If I had of known about that thing you posted and it would work, I would have paid the 150.00 for the blades, even though I only made 100.00 that day! We buy ANY tool that makes our job easier/faster/better. It is almost hard for a tool to NOT pay for itself, quickly. I know those Makita disc sanders that are out now, (a few years) and look sort of like a grinder are fantastic for under 100.00. We can put a disc of 80 grit on that thing and sand several houses with it. We just barely touch the surface with it when 80 grit is on there. We once sanded through about 10 coats of porch and floor paint on a 10x10 porch and made it natural in one day, one man. I think we cahrged around 1600.00 for that floor that had een peeling after every coat of paint for 20 years. So the painter made great money, the lady's problem was solved, and our compan was happy. And, we still have that sander. I wouldn't want to strip an entire clapboard house with it, but it is the BEST all around sander for the price that I have ever seen or used. I love it! Paul |

Re: Metabo 710 Watt Paint Remover LF 724 S
yes it does work and rips the paint off quick, HOWEVER it is very overpriced for what it is.... the design is very similar to a grinder with a different head, PERFORMANCE yes it takes the paint off however it WILL damage the wood if you are not careful, IT WILL NOT strip the board edge at the same time as they state (if you try you will just damage your board face....) the reason for this is the side depth is not adjustable so with thicker paint you need to take several passes at the side edge to strip, most successful way I found is to do the front of the board, then set the depth to zero and then do the side, LEAD PAINT USE ==== well our house is lead paint and I have been very careful to avoid contamination by putting down tarps and vacuuming up all the paint.... this stripper even with the vacuum flys paint EVERYWHERE however you do collect a substantial amount in the vacuum WEAR A MASK ECT
