Liquid Vinyl Siding

I have a client who received an email from a neighbor down at the coast who is a liquid vinyl siding dealer. The client has cedar siding that is beveled. It has a tendency to split and crack. I have had to make several repairs at various places because of the water getting in behind it. We keep checking it but then we will find another problem spot. The good news is I am catching it early enough that there is no underlying damage like I had in the beginning.

Anyway, what are the thoughts on liquid vinyl siding? I have not heard anything good about it. Is there something else that we can use in lieu of that or actually replacing the siding? All of the wood is stained.
