Lil Help

Don't deal with wall paper all that much. Lady called this morning and wants me to come out and take a look at her walls and fix them. She said they took off some wall paper and put a light coat of mud to fix a lip it left and then put 2coats of paint. Now in a few spots she said something is bleeding thru and leaving streaks. Should i assume that she didnt get the glue all the way off? What would be the best way to fix this? Just spot prime over areas and then paint whole wall or just repaint and blend in the areas?

I would say you need to go look at it and assess the situation after seeing it. Never assume the HO is telling you what is actually happening. Never knew a HO that knew how to get all the glue off a wall and or would do a good job mudding anything.

Good luck!

Post Of The Day!!!!!

As for the actual problem, there's absolutely no way to know the best way to deal with it w/o an actual, accurate, assessment of what's going on there

It is spots where the glue bleed thru. I think i should beable to spot prime it with seal and then just repaint the areas.
Any suggestions or better ways to do it?

In my opinion the glue has to be removed. usually if there is glue it will have some texture to it. Was the paper removed? or skimmed over with mud? Any spot priming will have to be done with oil base primer. I would still go see it and make an accurate assessment.

How would you resolve the problem if there was still glue under the paint...would you have to give the wall a good sandings to get the excess glue off ,oil base prime and then repaint??

Seeing that someone already botched the job by mudding over adhesive, it's going to be a tough call as to what to do. Without seeing it, I'd say prime the whole wall with a penetrating primer, such as Gardz, or a slow drying oil. Then skim out the bad areas, reprime the repairs, and paint. Make them pay for their $tupidity.

I wouldn't count on it
Though it's possible

I could however second the "Gardz the whole thing", thing
Gardz/Skim/Prime/Paint will work

I agree the gardz thing w/ skim may be the answer but you should still see it to give them an accurate pricing.

Haven't made it to there house yet. But from what she said they removed the wall paper washed the wall down and scraped off the glue (Or tried) then lightly skim coated the area with mud. She said there was 2 spots that are 9-10in long that r streaky and a lil darker. Was a Flat paint from Sw.

Sure you want to go there?

It's likely that you won't get any work out of it. would be nice to repair and repaint, but 10 to 1, you'll wind up giving advice and that's it.

Just had a lady, referral, call me out to her house for an exterior bid. I told her a ball park figure but never wrote up the proposal.

A few clues were that she told me someone egged her house, her son worked for a painter last year. The insincere christianity and a couple of other clues I won't post. she told me on the spot that I had the job, but two days later her son did the work. Makes me sick to my stomach when people lie in your face then hold up the religion shield. NO, I won't be going to your church. Yes, I do believe and I do have a personal relationship with God. Makes it easy to see through those people.
