Lighting And Gloss

Can flourecent lighting affect the gloss of a paint? I have posted about the trouble I am having with some gloss paint. Tried MH gloss. Not enought gloss. I then tried Impervex HG with a little flowtrol. Unless it looks different today, the gloss still does not seem right. The only light in the kitchen is an old, I guess, 4' flourecent light perpendicular to the cabinets. I am wondering if the type bulb is dulling the gloss.
Maybe I should know this, but I don't.

Post us a pic. Sheen varies from brand to brand. If you are used to the sheen of high gloss oil, then you will not find any choices that will compare.
Yes the light you described will effect the look.

Thats part of my problem here. The lady had used oil on her cab's in Memphis and wanted to use oil on these for the gloss. I told her there was some really good water based paint now with good gloss. Since I convinced her to go with the paints I used, I feel I may have to chalk it to experience if she is not satisfied. I was afraid to go back over the MH with any oil, so we went with Impervex High Gloss latex enamel. Not sure if that is going to fly.

What made me think of the light situation is I have used Mh on crown and had pretty good gloss. On these cab's it barely rated semi or eggshell. We both agreed it did not look that glossy. She wanted me to go over it with oil. Again, I talked her into a latex enamel but a high gloss. Not sure how this is going to turn out.

Hope for the best i reckon. If you run into this situation again another option would be Pittsburgh's high gloss industrial enamel oil, with 2 shots of black added to it. The 2black will greatly reduce yellowing along with giving it a little more substance for covering.
Also ICI's industrial enamel oil is a great product.
I can not comment on the BM product you used as i have no experience with it.

Re: Lighting And Gloss

Jean, I got down the street and remembered I had a camera with me. Went back to take a few pics and got to my son's house and could not find them on my camera. I think I didn't hold the button down long enough for the camera to flash and take the pics. I am not accustomed to the camera and do not even have the software on this puter yet.
Anyway, i touched up a couple of spots and got my money.

They turned out pretty good for what they were, but I don't think she was 100% with them. She said they looked good and she thought we had gotten them about as good as we were going to get them.
Hmm, not sure what that means.
I think we were both tired of putting lipstick on a pig. I know I was.
