Jean, I think we are looking at 30's or lower tomorrow night. Last few days? 70's and 80's.

Oops, sorry about that Sean.

Hey Miller, some tips on exterior for ya... my dad taught me a quick and dirty "eyeball" method when I was like... 12, unfortunatly with the addition of "no-paint" windows, the system still gets fairly close today, 30 something years later.

1000 base for one story, 100 per hole (door/window)
1500 base for spilt, 100 per hole
2000 base for two story, 100 per hole, 150 per hole on second

Now adjust your prices slightly for mats and weird things like your free standing garage, sometimes my dad's quickie approach came out closer to everyone else than my own.......

Pretty easy lets here some #'s.
I would spray this job and I would bid between $1300 and $1500 First day I would pressure wash and do any repairs, scraping etc. probably a half day. Second day I would tape and spray. Probably a full day but not a hard full day. I would want to make $600 a day after materials. I work alone and have a good idea what I can get done in a day.

Sounds like you are kind of new at this. Best of luck painting has been good to me. The one thing I would tell some one new is don't work too cheap. It is not about having lots of work it is about making a living. You are better off working one day and making $500 a day after expences then working four days and only making $100 a day.

Where you located? 500 - 600 day for one man is great I try and get that in Chicago but the market lately has been very competitive. I think with the housing market here people are cutting prices to get work. I am kind of hoping that situations like this will weed out the fly by night guys and send them packing into another job area.

When the housing market is great seems like we get more and more people coming ou tof the woodwork saying they are painting contractors. ( Sorry to hijack the thread)

Like Jim said power wash one day and then come back in and spray it out clean up should be done in two to three days tops. I would charge around 1250. with materials maybe put in 12 to 14 hours. with two guys 8 hours. I like BM paint for the money.

Mineral siding must be washed with a solution that will get rid of any chalkiness that that type pf siding will always have. It is very easy to roll mineral siding or spray it and backroll. I would use Superpaint flat or satin.

My old man used to look at a house and tell me how many ladder moves it would take to paint it. Then he would slap me in the back of the head with a 6 inch brush and tell me to go get the ladders...lol
