Large Shed
Just bored here and thought i would throw out something simple to bid on. What would others bid a large 24x44 Garage? Pretty simple all one color including THe trim. Power wash and paint one coat.
Pretty easy lets here some #'s.

It is Masonite siding 2small windows on each side. Pretty much just power wash and paint not really much prep work at all. Basically three sides the front obviously is the garage door that doesnt need painting. Since you have been so helpfull in the past whats the best way to bid on exteriors? Mainly do Interior and know what i can roll per hr. Have done a couple exterior but nothing to rescent with all the Vinyle siding. What would you advise for this kind of work just spray, brush or roll? what do you think is the easiest and will cover the best. Should beable to get by with one coat. Mainly get all my paint From SW what would be your recomendation for the Best quality exterior paint that will last.

Not experienced in pricing exterior on my own here. I need to get a grip on it too I guess. I would really check the condition of the masonite though. Wish I could help you there. I do not spray other peoples property. I did spray most of my house. Did fair I guess. I know I used the wrong kind of sprayer and had more overspray than I thought I would on the windows even with a shield. But, it was fast with no backrolling. I say it was fast, but if it had been for a paying customer, not so sure after having to clean the windows and a couple of bad places. Kind of waiting for the real responses to this too. Heheh, I really doubt $1800 would go over here.

I was planning on Brushing i figured that would be the best way to control the coverage and make sure it gets a good coat. It will be myself and my bro. $1800 would be way too high for Mn. Im just so used to mainly doing interior work that the bidding on exterior is a whole diff. ball game. I know my #s for interior but you cant really compare what i can roll per hr. to exterior brush work. So just looking for any tips.
Thanks,

Surely you are not going to brush all that.
I was thinking 4x8 siding. This must be overlapping siding. Maybe brush and roll?

Make sure there are NO bare spots on the masonite. If there is, seal it, treat it like paper or cardboard.
If you're going to brush, get a good 4"in brush, bucket/screen/roller or one of the buckets with the angled side for the roller and a compartment for the paint brush. You'll be glad for the roller after dipping the brush a million times.
Powerwash and 1 coat of paint, labor only, around 650.

Yea I would say 800$ w/o looking a it tho I could be lower or higher. I would roll it heavy and lay it off with a 4 inch brush. Just brushing would be slow. 1800$ would be nice not sure if any one would pay that for a garage.

My bid might be a lil low. I came in right under $700. I am from Mn. And obvisouly have a dif. over head. Just trying to get some feed back from others. We will be rolling and brushing whenever the weather gets nice enough. Like i said i usually don't focus on Exteriors due to the weather so just trying to get some tips from others. What would u reccomend for paint from SW.? The siding does look good, I guess i will se how it looks after I power wash it. What kind of mixture do you use for power washing.

i don't use SW but there are plenty of guys here that do and I am sure they will recommend something for you. I can see how exteriors aren't great in MN, I am in Chicago area and it was 70 yesterday and 30 today with snow showers.

I do not do any exteriors until May and will run well into Oct. I have tried decks and exteriors in April with no good luck. I am with only one other guy too. I can see how maybe a large co. with a big crew can knock out a large exterior in days which might take me 8 - 10 days. I can't put enough fudge time into a job like that a be competitive on pricing.

Yea i hear ya there. I actually have 2 descent size exteriors coming up. Kind of a pain for 2 or even 3guys to do. Since i haven't been in business that long i don't want to turn away work. I perfer Interiors quik 1-2day jobs r nice and usually good money. But if it ever gets nice working outside for a couple weeks won't be so bad. Again thanks for the tips, This forum has helped me alot and has given me alot of usefull advice.

I was going to tell you a low figure of 1350.00, that was brushing.
Yeah the weather can suck 80's last week and the earlier part of this week in the 70's now.
@ less than 700 is he furnishing material? I would hope so.

The price isn't confirmed yet with the Ho. That was what i figured out for labor and what i would need to make. I already have the job price really doesnt matter they just want a good job with a good coat of paint and no skim coat cheap job. Since I usually focus on Interior jobs i was looking for some tips and maybe ideas to what others think the best paint would be. I usually go thru SW. for all my interior and use promar 200 or 400. So any advice i do apreciate.
Yea sounds like weather is really rough, I just wish it would stay in the 70's instead of the 30's.

80% will say SW the other 19% will say BM and 1% will say something else.
I like to use ICI Dulux for my exterior.
I was'nt saying that my weather was rough at the moment, i just know how it is when the weather is inconsistant. 30 degrees is a slow spring.
