Junk paint

I got spec'd to use ProMar 400 latex eggshell on a repaint today, I have never used this crap before and I pray to the paint gods that I never have to use it again, I would rather use Behr. I have never seen paint that refused to cover the way this stuff did, I didnt buy it but unless they were paying the guy to take it off their hands then I think he was ripped off.

I havent really used much SW stuff compared to most of the guys on here, I have always stuck with ICI because I know their products. I have used Super Paint , Cashmere and Duration. I Dont mind those products, not fond of Cashmere, but it is OK.
When I buy paint from ICI I never box it togther or have to stir it, I have had to do both when getting paint from the local SW stores. Maybe it is just the local stores but so far I have never been too impressed by SW.

ProMar 400 is crap but if you know how to paint you can make it cover.

If you want to see real crap try the ProMar 700 or my personal favorite ICI SpeedWall.

Wow, I've used 400 on multiple commercial projects with good luck. Maybe you were using a deep base, if that's the case then I could see you'd have some trouble.

I can put two coats of 400 flat or eggshell on a wall and it will look great...check your techniques.

I couldn't get the 400 to cover other colors. If it was new construction and the walls were primed to color then maybe, but this was white going over a pale green and a pink and it would not cover. I have used 700 on a ceiling, the paint was spec'd, so I had no choice, it didn't cover well and burnt the hell outta my eyes.
If it takes some special skill to make ProMar 400 work then I don't want those skills, I would rather buy better paint then work harder trying to make cheap stuff cover.

I guess it depends on apples to apples re-painting. If it was for an apartment complex or rental I would say it is what it is. but if its a custom home I would no less than CASHMERE® Low Lustre, but give Duration Home® Matte a try.
