Joy Of Color - Cooking
Here's a little something of little consequence that I thought may give a few a slight chuckle.
First a little background, I was cursed with a good color eye and ability to mix paint to the color needed. (This came from frustration when the "premier" color matcher of Boston in the mid-70's blew too many matches - ever wonder why the Green Monster looked a different shade of green each year? He mixed it) Fast forward to a couple months ago. When I was doing a home project it took me HOURS to get the paint exactly where I wanted it - to compliment some wallpaper both in natural and artificial lighting. So over the weekend I had to patch some holes in my son's "stucco" walls. After patching, I studied the wall color, went to the basement, grabbed an odd can of some ACE Hardware flat latex, poured about 12 ounces in a container, put one drop of Raw Sienna and half a drop of Burnt Umber. It turned out to be about half the color I needed. Down to the basement again and double the colorant. CLOSE ENOUGH. But that's not the punch line. It looked real similar to my trim color that took hours, so I made a brush out and compared......it was spot on. So there you have it, many hours of mixing, drying and inspecting under different lighting for the first, ten minutes blind for the second "It just goes to show"
