Introducing PaintTalk.com

Today we are excited to launch a new website specifically for Professional Painting Contractors called www.PaintTalk.com .

As many of you know the painting topic on ContractorTalk.com is very popular and that will not be changing at all. PaintTalk.com is not meant to replace the painting topic on ContractorTalk.com but rather to provide another outlet for Painting Contractors to interact. We feel there is a real need for a paint specific forum in the industry.

If you’re involved in the painting industry we hope you will stop by and check out www.PaintTalk.com. We also hope you’ll help us spread the word among other painting contractors that there is a new painting forum online.

One last note, your login from www.ContractorTalk.com will NOT work on www.PaintTalk.com so you will need to sign up for a new account. The process is quick and easy and you can sign up for an account here: http://www.painttalk.com/register.php

Thanks!

Re: Introducing PaintTalk.com

Nathan - just wondering if this new site was really needed? I am a newbie here on these boards, but like having a single place (and logon) to view all the different areas.

Is there something I am missing on benefits of the extra website you mention? I hope people keep just posting to this board and don't use the new one. Mabye that's just me .... but I like perusing this and other boards on this site - even if I am not in the profession. I still have to work with and understand some of the questions as the GC.

I liked the painters being here too. Some of them do some really cool stuff and I'm always looking for remod ideas. Looks like now I'm in for a side trip.

Re: Introducing PaintTalk.com

Hey Hambone. Thanks for your concern and let me try and shed some light on to why we are doing this.

If you take a look at our homepage you will notice that the painting topic is far and away the most popular topic on our site. In fact some people have even complained about this. I DO NOT view this as a problem at all however I do recognize a need that isn't being filled.

A few years ago there were several painting forums on the net in addition to ContractorTalk.com and they served the painting community well, but for some reason most of them have died off.
PaintTalk.com is NOT designed to pull people away from ContractorTalk.com but rather to replace those old painting forums that used to be so popular and useful

The painting topic on ContractorTalk.com will in place and remain very active and PaintTalk.com isn't going to change that. This is just another outlet for painting professionals much like the other trade specific sites that are already out there.

The painting topic on ContractorTalk.com isn't going anywhere. Trust me on this.

It's nice to here from you Nathan.. we forget your even around..... You should throw in your 2 cents every once and a while... argue with us or something....

Now about the new forum... I think it's about time... I'm starting to hate everyone here... really deep down hate..Now I can go there and hate them also....

I also think it's long overdue.... We all know were special.. not like those (other) trades. We are like the marines... we get called in to fix everyones mess. We should be the busiest... most used forum on the internet.

Just found out that it is for 'painting professionals only". Never felt so unwelcome in my life.

Re: Introducing PaintTalk.com

I noticed room on the net for a couple more painting forums too. Good move.

HHMMM, I work for myself and know how to contract, but not a full fledged contractor at the moment.

How should I take this? I think contractors have the right to their own forum. I respect that.
Just don't know how to react at this point.

That's mostly meant to keep homeowners out just like we do with this site but once again the painting forum on ContractorTalk.com will remain active as always. But feel free to drop in anytime

Re: Introducing PaintTalk.com

Obviously it would be foolish to think that we painters are held in such high regard in the contracting industry, that we get our own website!

You gonna start an "off topic" or "pol/rel' site now too?

Sorry to say.... and I know that your a painter, but it sounds like your tryin to get rid of us?We don't account for that much action around here!

I'm "not" sure if I like what's goin on here!

Are we now seen as a clean-up crew for other contractors?I would like to see any of them finish a job with out us!

If this is a serious post your way off base. I am not trying to get rid of anyone and I really hope we don't loose much traffic in the painting area of this site at all.
The goal of this is not to replace the painting topic here but to replace some of the paint specific forums that have died off recently (other websites). Most trades have trade specific forums as well as ContractorTalk.com and painting no longer had that outlet so I was trying to fill the void.

Did you know we also have www.ElectricianTalk.com? Have you seen the Electrical area of the site drop off? It hasn't and it's actually brought new members to contractortalk.com. Same idea with PaintTalk.com.

Trust me when I say I'm not trying to push anyone out and I'm not trying to replace the painting topic on contractortalk.com. It just isn't true and if you give it some time you will see what I'm talking about.

If the painters do leave, where will I go to sniff the solvents?

Actually, I belive that most of them will still remain here as there primary site, because it is loaded with a broad spectrum of advice.

They just need another part time place to get cleaned up at before they come here for their full time dose of business wisdom.
