Been asked to patch a concrete wall in an elementary school. The concrete is ok. It looks like a 1 foot square area the original paint peeled off. It has been repainted several times but is still shy of the top layer. What should I use to patch? This is an area right next to restroom that gets a lot of "touching" Thanks
I think he's saying that it's been painted numerous times, but the spot that peeled is now lower than the rest of the thick layers of paint. My advice would be to feather sand the edges back on the existing paint. Follow up with a good block fill primer, then paint. Thoroughly clean the entire area after sanding and before priming to ensure proper adhesion. Greasy hand prints being painted over numerous times hasn't worked for the people who have painted it previously.
Thanks AA, that is what "she" was trying to convey. I am afraid a patch (fixall?) will not stick and paint will not fill. It is about 1/16 inch. It looks like the kids have been picking at it.
I agree with AA. a good sanding followed by loxon block filler
Build it up with two coats and sand it after it dries, clean with tack cloth and top coat.
Oops, sorry RC. I didn't realize you were a "she"....heh! The acid etch is not a bad idea either...you could throw that in for good measure, and you know it will then be bulletproof.
