Inexpesive Means To Apply Laquer?

Hi guys, ive got a (one) vanity that i want to paint in laquer, and dont want to spend an enormous amount of money for a designated airless, etc. Can anyone recommend a sprayer/spray method that would be inexpensive, yet yield nice results?

thanks very much

Being a drywall contractor you should know at least one painter that could give you a cash deal.
I wouldn't recommend you shoot lacquer if you haven't done it a few times already.

I have shot it before. ...my last project was my office when my airless was new. Since then ive shot a bunch of latex with it, and am kinda leary about running laquer through it.

.......just looking for another way that wont cost me too much.

PC makes an inexpensive HVLP gun that you can hook up to your compressor. Make sure it can supply enough air (CFM) to the gun to keep it going. A 1.7mm tip with about 10-12% thinning should do the trick. If you are using a pigmented lacquer then more thinner and a bigger tip may be required. Using the proper retarders with the pigmented lacquers will likely be required.

Buy a new pressure hose for the airless and clean the gun real well. Squirt a bunch of lacquer thinner through it for a minute or two. Do a test pc and see what happens. If it works, yer golden. If not, you have an extra pressure hose for your unit.

I wouldn't advise running laquer through an airless.

HVLP baby. It's made for shooting laquers.

I got my HVLP off of craigslist for $200.

It's a Graco ProComp 4900
4 stage turbine
2 speed
Cup gun and hose included.

all she needed was a new filter.

*it's a $1500 rig!

OK, well if we're talking mid range, why not go to HD and get one of them fancy spray cans with lacquer?
