Impact Resistant Coatings.....

We are trying a new product, and it is pretty neat. Triarch is the product and is suppose to be Impact Resistant.

We apply it with a plastic wire type roller nap...rolling up and down, then crossing it out, then even it out up and down again. Once thats down we use a little blade type thing to flatten out the stipple, like a knockdown texture. After it dries a day we go back and pole sand it, and stain.

Anybody else heard of this product. Triarch Plastik I think, have to check again on the exact name.

I'm not familiar with these guys... I'm curious, in what situations would you guys use a product like this in?

So far we have done the laundry room and a long hallway of the gym we are painting. The one where we sprayed the ceiling in.

Not real happy with the staining part....as per directions we are suppose to spray a light coat and rag it with terry cloths.

Re: Impact Resistant Coatings.....

why does it need to be impact resistant.they r doing some intresting things with plural component polyureas using them in all sorts of creative ways, some dry in 15-45 seconds and come in all sorts of colors including clear and glow in the dark.like the truck bed liners they are sprayed and your done.with incredible impact resistant coating.much quicker than rolling sanding and top coating.

It's something new the government has found. Had to get certified to apply it.

Re: Impact Resistant Coatings.....

About 8 or 9 years ago they had a product that was supposed to be impact resistant that they were pushing to a lot of hospitals, can't remember the name, but anyhow it involved going to Minneappolis to the manufacturer for a paid seminar on the use of this product.

You had to have a large compressor with a three headed gun to apply this product, we turned down the bid as no one wanted to spend the time and money to learn this product for 1/2 of a small hospital maternity ward.

We had the maintenance contract for this hospital and another contractor bid and got the contract for this coating. well to say the least when people ram wheelchairs and gurnees into any coating it ain't going to hold up if the corner bead and drywall are destroyed. So much for this so called impact resistance, within 6 months we were back in there to sand patch and repaint with regular coatings.
