HVLP Sprayer Or ??

I am a carpenter that has invented a new crown moulding product, the problem I am having is that I truly dislike painting.I am getting my product out there but I am losing potential customers due to the fact I refuse to paint, and for a painter to come in adds another hassle to a simple job.I have been told the HVLP sprayer may be the answer.

Could I spray with this set up without having to mask everything in the room?

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Re: HVLP Sprayer Or ??

Still need to protect all horizantal/flat surfaces. I got my first HVLP maybe 10 years ago when they first came out. I was sold on the minimal presure/overspray. First job I only put my drops out 10' from the cabinets I was spraying. BIG mistake... Spent about an hour cleaning the floor in the rest of the room.

My 1st HVLP was a Titan, 2nd was a Grayco. Both good units, but I now only use my airless with a fine finish tip. Its just way faster......

I agree with the airless with a ff tip.
HVLP's have their place but they are slow and they struggle to spray heavier bodied materials.
Can you leak any information about your invented crown?

So,an airless with a ff (fine finish?)tip.

Will I still be required to fully mask off the room? That is what I hope to get away from (just a dream?).

Leaked info on crown,

pro-fitmouldings.com (website is being worked on) and check out youtube.Search pro-fit mouldings (I'm the guy in the hat installing)check it out!

Thanks for the help

IMHO, you will always need to mask off the entire room. Spend more time masking, but paint faster with an airless. Or mask a little less & take more time painting. If all you are painting is the crown, get the HVLP. Just remember that the "little overspray" is not all its cracked up to be.

No wonder I don't like painting.

Thanks,
