How would you feel about doing this job

I found this over on craigslist, But the question is how would you feel doing this job when they have a Painter doing the entire house, but they just need you to do all the high work, the other thing is I wonder how much input the other Painter would have on your price I like these type of Painters who can only paint if they are standing on the ground.

Date: 2009-04-22, 11:02AM EDT

Professional detail oriented painter needed to paint the following:
GREAT ROOM
380 sq ft of 18' ceiling
+ 52' cut in, but walls will be painted later by me
+10' cut in along rock chimney chase
6 eyeball lights and 1 fan to cut in
2 nail pop repairs

HALLWAY
370 sq ft of 8' ceiling (regular hallway)
no cut in

We will supply all paint. Just so you know, I already have someone painting the entire interior of my home except for the specified areas.

Please email your quote or and questions. I need this done soon.

Thanks,
Michael

I would price the high work $$$$ while mocking the guy they hired as a pussy and explaining that they're going to pay extra as a result.
People always call us looking for dormers or 30+ft soffits painted because their friend/uncle/lowballer is scared/doesn't have the proper gear for the job. "Price goes up with risk of injury/death and my insurance isn't cheap."

I've found that angle, why absolutely true, doesn't resonate with HOs too well. Their idea of a tough work environment is broken A/C or a slow server at the office.

I quoted a huge, nasty farmhouse last year. The HO asked for a revised quote excluding the lower 6 feet, as he was comfortable using his 3-step ladder. I took $500 off the job when he was expecting 1/3rd off. Still booked it and it saved my guys a ton of work.

I would cut it in then pour a little bit of white in the rest of the paint so it doesnt match when it dries. I would then show up at the house with a fresh gallon when the HO called me about it and show him how mine matches and the other guys doesnt, " I dont know what he did to screw it up, he must not know what he is doing."

Swear to god I had a client many years ago who hired a painter who only had one arm. Guy did outstanding interior work. I cant imagine him on a ladder though.
