I suppose the question would be how much help have they given you,,,Did they say "we want you to paint and make money"?
I would sit down and talk with them and try to work out something that keeps everyone happy. Even if it meant a loss to me.
It can be a very tough situation

Let us know the outcome!!
It is a very tough situation for me,, I have been looking online for a few days for some type of price estimator to see what the pros would charge for such a job, but no luck so far.

I found this site and decided to give it a shot,,,, starting to get some ideas,,

I really would like to know what a professional would charge for this same job done right.. not taking into consideration all the given circumstances,,

Re: How Much To Charge?

I ran the figures from the info you provided and came up with a total of what you would likely get for it in the houston area. Obviously there are variables that could alter it but feel this would be about right if I bid the job...

I came up with $2570.00 And that would probably be on the low end...Of course we have overhead and all the usual business cost that have to be covered.

Good luck!

Wow! Provided the work was done in a productive manner, I'd be happy to pay that rate to any independent service contractor. Maybe I'm missing some economic factor - like Texas' proximity to the southern border.

Lol...The proximity to the border has killed the English speaking worker for sure.
Just wait...It's coming to a city near you!

I was not saying the $21 per hour was high...just maybe high in the case of having received help from these people? Otherwise I am with you. I would happily pay that for someone resposible and diligent...If that exist anymore

Re: How Much To Charge?

Here goes a cut and dry answer. I would charge $2800 plus what paint and materials cost. If you are talking about 70 hours, thats about half a month's work. Im in northern california though and this price is a bit low compared to what other contractors in my area charge.

Now if these people helped you out a good deal like you said then that depends. Did they offer you a place to live for a couple of weeks and food as well? if this were the case then i would do it for free man, my concience would not allow me to charge them any money.I would just tell them to buy the materials.

How much did they help you?
